Film, TV and stage star Zachary Quinto will soon be trading in Tom Wingfield's knit hat and typewriter for guns and melee weapons. According to Deadline.com, Quinto has signed on to star in the 20th Century Fox film Agent 47. The thriller, which is also set to star Rupert Friend, is a sequel to 2007's Hitman. No word yet on what kind of character Quinto will play, but we bet he'll be menacing.
Directed by Aleksander Bach and written by Skip Woods and Michael Finch, Agent 47 is based on the popular Hitman video game series, which revolves around Agent 47, a cloned assassin-for-hire, whose flawless record places him in high demand among the wealthy and elite. The original film starring Timothy Olyphant and Dougray Scott, grossed almost $100 million worldwide.
Quinto is currently starring in the acclaimed Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie. In addition to Quinto, the play stars Cherry Jones, Celia Keenan-Bolger and Brian J. Smith. Before Quinto goes before the Agent 47 cameras in March, be sure to catch his excellent performance in The Glass Menagerie, playing through February 23 at the Booth Theatre.
